Plain English Summary
- GeoLoggy does not collect personal information, create accounts, or require sign-up.
- All photos and reports are stored locally on your device only.
- Location data is used only to embed GPS coordinates into photos at the moment of capture. It is never transmitted to GeoLoggy's servers.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind.
- We do not sell, share, or monetise your data.
- Core functionality is available offline. GeoLoggy does not transmit your content or personal data to GeoLoggy-operated servers. Certain Apple system services (such as MapKit or App Store infrastructure) may communicate with Apple as part of normal iOS functionality.
- Purchases and subscription billing are processed directly by Apple through the App Store. GeoLoggy does not receive or store your payment card details or billing information.
1. Who We Are
GeoLoggy is developed and operated by Moin Eusof ("we", "us", "our"). The GeoLoggy application ("App") is available on the Apple App Store and is designed for professional field documentation and reporting.

2. Information We Collect
GeoLoggy is designed with privacy by default. We collect the minimum information necessary for the App to function.

Information we do NOT collect
- Name, email address, phone number or any contact details
- Account credentials or passwords
- Payment or financial information — purchases are processed directly by Apple; GeoLoggy does not receive or store payment card details
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs or fingerprints
- Usage analytics or behavioural data
- Crash reports or diagnostic data sent to our servers
- Any data from third-party advertising or analytics services
3. How We Use Your Information
All data described above is used solely to provide the core functionality of the App — capturing geo-tagged photos and generating PDF field reports. Specifically:
- Location data is used at the moment of photo capture to embed GPS metadata into the photo and subsequently into PDF reports you generate.
- Information you enter (report title, author, organisation) is used to populate PDF reports and is saved locally on your device for your convenience in future reports.
- No data is transmitted to GeoLoggy servers at any point.
- No data is used for marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond the direct functionality you initiate.
4. Data Storage and Security
All data generated and stored by GeoLoggy remains on your device at all times. This includes:
- Photos — saved to a dedicated "GeoLoggy" album in your iOS Photo Library
- PDF reports — saved to the App's local storage on your device
- Report preferences — saved to iOS UserDefaults on your device
GeoLoggy does not operate any cloud storage, servers, or databases that hold your personal information.
Apple device backups and iCloud Photos: Photos captured with GeoLoggy are saved to your iOS Photos library and organised in a dedicated GeoLoggy album for easy access. They will also appear in your All Photos view as part of your main photo library. If you have iCloud Photos enabled, these photos — including any embedded GPS metadata — will sync to your iCloud account in accordance with your iOS settings and Apple's privacy policy. GeoLoggy does not provide or operate cloud backup services and has no control over or access to your iCloud account.
Security: While we take reasonable measures to support secure local storage through standard iOS protections, no device or software environment can be guaranteed completely secure.
Important: Because data is stored locally on your device, deleting the App will permanently delete all reports stored within it. We recommend sharing or backing up important reports before uninstalling. The App displays a reminder about this.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third parties.
GeoLoggy does not transmit your content or personal data to GeoLoggy-operated servers. Certain Apple system services (such as MapKit for map tile rendering, or App Store infrastructure for subscription management) may communicate with Apple as part of normal iOS functionality. This communication is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
The only circumstance in which your report content leaves your device is when you choose to share a generated PDF report using iOS's native share sheet (email, AirDrop, cloud storage, messaging, etc.). This sharing is entirely initiated and controlled by you.
GeoLoggy does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or data collection SDKs.
6. Third-Party Services and Apple Frameworks
GeoLoggy uses the following Apple system frameworks to deliver core functionality:
- Core Location — to access GPS, altitude and bearing data at the time of photo capture
- AVFoundation — to operate the camera
- PhotoKit — to save photos to and access the GeoLoggy album
- MapKit — to generate map overview pages in PDF reports. MapKit may fetch map tile data from Apple servers as part of rendering map imagery. Any communication with Apple occurs through Apple's system frameworks and is governed by Apple's privacy practices. GeoLoggy does not intentionally transmit your report content or stored personal data to Apple in this process.
- PencilKit — to provide photo annotation and markup tools
- StoreKit — to manage in-app purchase subscriptions for Premium features. Purchases and subscription billing are processed directly by Apple through the App Store. GeoLoggy does not receive or store your payment card details or billing information.
These are standard Apple operating system frameworks. Apple's privacy policy governs how Apple handles any data processed through these frameworks. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
No other third-party SDKs, libraries or services are integrated into GeoLoggy.
7. Device Permissions
GeoLoggy requests the following device permissions:

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time via iOS Settings → GeoLoggy. Note that revoking camera or location access will limit core App functionality.
8. Children's Privacy
GeoLoggy is designed for professional use by adults. The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us at privacy@geologgy.com and we will take appropriate action.
9. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies — including users in the EU, UK and EEA — GeoLoggy processes personal data on the following lawful bases:
- Consent — by granting camera, location or photo library permissions when prompted, you consent to that data being accessed and used solely for the functionality you initiate within the App.
- Legitimate interests / contract performance — where necessary to provide the core App functionality you have requested, such as embedding GPS data into photos and generating PDF reports.
You may withdraw consent at any time by revoking permissions via iOS Settings → GeoLoggy. Since all data is stored locally on your device, withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of any prior processing.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Because GeoLoggy does not collect or transmit personal data to any servers, most data subject rights are automatically satisfied — all your data is already in your control on your own device. Nevertheless, we respect and acknowledge your rights under applicable laws worldwide.
EU / UK / EEA — GDPR
Right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability and object. Right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
California, USA — CCPA/CPRA
Right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
Australia — Privacy Act 1988
Right to access and correct personal information held about you. Right to complain to the OAIC.
Canada — PIPEDA
Right to access personal information and challenge its accuracy. Right to withdraw consent.
Brazil — LGPD
Right to confirmation, access, correction, anonymisation, portability, deletion, and information about sharing.
Japan — APPI
Right to disclosure, correction, addition, deletion and suspension of use of personal information.
South Africa — POPIA
Right to access, correction, deletion and objection to processing of personal information.
Singapore / Thailand / Malaysia — PDPA
Right to access and correct personal data. Right to withdraw consent for processing.
China — PIPL
Right to know, decide, access, copy, correct, delete personal information and withdraw consent.
All other regions
We honour universal privacy principles — transparency, purpose limitation, data minimisation, and user control — regardless of local law.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@geologgy.com. Because data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise most rights directly by managing or deleting data within the App or via iOS Settings.
11. Data Retention
GeoLoggy does not retain any data on our servers because we do not collect data to our servers in the first place.
Data on your device is retained for as long as you keep the App installed and choose to keep it. You can delete individual photos, reports or all App data at any time by:
- Deleting photos from the GeoLoggy library within the App
- Deleting PDF reports from within the App
- Deleting the App entirely from your device (this permanently removes all App data)
- Clearing App data via iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage → GeoLoggy
12. International Users
GeoLoggy is available globally through the Apple App Store. Because all data is stored locally on your device and no data is transmitted to our servers, there is no cross-border transfer of personal data by GeoLoggy.
If you choose to share a generated PDF report using a third-party service (email, cloud storage, messaging), the privacy practices of that service govern how they handle your data.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
For significant changes, we will also provide notice within the App update release notes on the App Store.
